Dr. Atkin's Diet Revolution by Robert C. Atkins - Insulin is your enemy. That's the basic premise here, as in most of the lower carbohydrate diets. It was originally published about 20 years ago, but met with such sweeping criticism that it didn't go anywhere. Lately, it's all the buzz. It is virtually a NO carb diet as opposed to a LOW carb diet. I am not particularly fond of it, but you can make up your own mind.

D'Adamo - Peter D'Adamo makes a persuasive argument that your blood type is an evolutionary marker that tells you which foods you'll process best, and which will be useless calories. He covers the entire range for each of the four blood types, from entrees to condiments and seasonings, and also makes type-specific exercise and lifestyle recommendations.

If so, it outlines a program to wean yourself off the carbs and start to control your insulin levels, thus your fat burning.

Sugar Busters! Shoppers Guide by H. Leighton Steward (editor) - A decent (and cheap) reference that talks about food labels and gives lists of foods that fit into the sugar busters diet. Beware - this is a reference only - it does not discuss the basics of the diet. Also, it has many listings for the sugar busters branded food.

The Omega Diet : The Lifesaving Nutritional Program Based on the Diet of the Island of Crete by Artemis Simopoulos, MD, with Jo Robinson - Eat more fat and be healthier. But eat the right fats. This book touts the advantages of Omega-3 fatty acids and citing their heart-protective and cancer-preventive properties. Overall, a well-crafted book with clear examples and lots of technical information on fat and it's role in the body.

His overall take on diet, nutrition, and exercise is a good one.
